The
Minnesota HMIS is developing a system to upload HMIS
data into our database in XML format. A schema has been
developed, as well as a stylesheet to map the data into
the ServicePoint database. Links to these files are on
the right side of this page. For a thorough description of the data integration project for Minnesota's HMIS, please see the Minnesota HMIS XML Data Integration Project Profile.
The Minnesota Model schema includes all data elements
required and requested by HUD. Data elements that are
unique to Minnesota are also included, but will not be
required for a successful data upload.
Uploading data via xml is not a quick alternative to
entering data into Servicepoint. This process requires
a lot of planning and technical work, including the development
of a transformation file to map your data into the MN
Model format. However, if your organization is trying
to avoid duplicate data entry and is committed to an
existing database, uploading your data via xml could
be a solution, if you are able to transform the data
to conform to the MN Model.
If you have questions about the upload process, please
contact Wilder Research at HMIS@wilder.org.
