You're Invited to the 2020 HMIS Annual Meeting!

Please join the MN HMIS Governing Board on Monday, October 19th from 9-11am for the 2020 HMIS Annual Meeting! HMIS is a key part of Minnesota’s effort to end homelessness. The Annual Meeting is an opportunity for all stakeholders to learn more about HMIS and to give your input to help shape its future.

Key meeting topics include a highlight of the past year, including how HMIS has been used to respond to COVID-19, End User support, and an update on the new Quarterly Data Quality process. We’ll also learn more about future plans for HMIS, updates on the strategic planning process, and how the Board is working to have a more intentional role in the use of HMIS to address racial disparities.

Attendees can provide important feedback on topics such as:

  • How we can use End User Groups to support End Users statewide

  • ICA’s performance review

  • The upcoming HMIS User Training re-design

  • How HMIS can be used to dismantle white supremacy and reduce disparities

  • How the Board can center antiracism and racial equity in its work going forward

Grab your favorite snacks and get cozy, because this year’s meeting will be totally VIRTUAL (via GoToWebinar). You can find an invitation to this year’s Annual Meeting on the Annual Meeting page of our website.

What can you expect at the Annual Meeting?

This year’s agenda includes a recap of the past year, highlighting how HMIS has been used to respond to COVID-19, how End Users are being supported, and the role of the new Quarterly Data Quality process in our response to homelessness. We’ll also learn more about future plans for HMIS, including ICA’s User Training re-design, an update on the strategic planning process, software vendor updates, and legislative funding strategies to support HMIS.

The Board and ICA will partner to discuss the importance of working together to address racial disparities and ways that the Board can have an intentional role in this critical work. Stakeholders will have the opportunity to provide input about how the Board can prioritize racial equity and antiracism in its work moving forward.

The Board will also present proposed changes to the bylaws and a new election process for the End User and At Large Board seats.

Annual Meeting materials, including updated bylaws and the meeting agenda, will be available on the HMIS Annual Meeting page on the days leading up to the big day. Stay tuned!

How can meeting attendees engage in the meeting?

We will be using a feedback platform, Mentimeter, again at this year’s Annual Meeting. Mentimeter allows you to share your thoughts and feedback anonymously, and we can all see the results in real time!

New to Mentimeter? If you’ve never used Mentimeter before, you can access it from a web browser on any computer or smartphone – there’s nothing that you need to install or download. During the meeting, you’ll simply go to the Mentimeter website (https://www.menti.com), enter the code from the Annual Meeting agenda or presentation slide, and then you’ll be able to see and respond to discussion questions. You can watch an overview of Mentimeter here or try a practice Menti here (scroll to “Try out live voting”).
